Ben is a registered social worker, psychotherapist who has extensive experience working with children and adults in education, non-profit and clinical environments. He is a eclectic, trauma-informed practitioner who draws from a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Internal Family System (IFS) to suit the needs of his clients. Ben brings warmth, empathy and humility to his practice, as he believes in walking alongside his clients in their healing journey.
Prior to his work as a social worker, Ben enjoyed an active career as a professional musician and a decade-long tenure as a middle school instrumental music teacher. His career as a trumpeter earned him a Juno nomination for “Best Traditional Jazz Album of the Year” with the Order of Canada Jazz Ensemble, multiple tours across Canada, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and music consultant to Ethan Hawke in his portrayal of Chet Baker in the film “Born to be Blue” among other accolades and accomplishments. He continues to perform as guest artist with ensembles across the GTA.
Ben received a Bachelor of Music (University of Toronto); Artist Diploma (Glenn Gould School, Royal Conservatory of Music); and Master of Social Work (University of Windsor).
