Supervision with David Bruce, RP — for psychotherapists, social workers, nurses, and other professionals who do therapy. CRPO-recognized clinical supervisor. Over 35 years of clinical experience. Specialized depth in personality disorders, ADHD, autism, complex trauma, and the cases that don't come with a manual.
If you're confused that the limited models you learned in the classroom don't work with real clients — you're not wrong, and you're not behind. You're reading the situation accurately. We'll work to fill the gap between what graduate school teaches and what therapy actually requires, including adherence to CRPO Professional Practice Standards in complicated, real-life situations.
For already-registered clinicians working independently. Most consultations involve personality disorders or neurodivergent presentations — ADHD, autism, BPD, NPD. Bring the cases you're stuck on. We'll think them through together.
In ADHD, trauma, personality disorders, or neurodivergent care. Typically supervision works around ongoing therapy with complex clients — closer support during the building phase, eventually giving way to occasional check-ins when something's confusing or you're stuck. Specialization is built through repetition; this is where you build it.
If you're doing therapy in a context that's new to you — a different country, a different professional regulation, a different population — we can work together. Translation between training contexts is part of what supervision is for.
If you're looking for purely CBT-focused supervision, I'm probably not the best fit. I work better with clinicians who are open to deeper reflection on themselves and the therapeutic relationship.
David Bruce has over 35 years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and families — including as a CRPO-Registered Psychotherapist since 2017, when regulation of psychotherapy came into effect in Ontario. Before regulation, he practiced as a counsellor across institutional settings, including with homeless men and substance users.
He has supervised over twenty therapists at a time at the height of his work, and brings that volume of experience into every supervisory relationship he holds today. He launched his current private practice in a professional partnership.
David has always enjoyed supporting others in their learning. He began supervising students in psychotherapy and social work programs to bring therapy to those who couldn't afford it — and has built his supervision practice around that same orientation: that good supervision is a contribution to the field, not just a service.

Yes. I'm CRPO-recognized as a clinical supervisor, which means hours of supervision with me count toward your CRPO supervision hours requirement for full registration. I'll sign off on documentation as needed.
Yes. I love it. I came to supervision because I love supporting therapists in their learning, and I’ve never lost that. If you’re worried about being treated as an obligation rather than a person, you won’t be.
Yes. You can call or text me from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week. I’d rather you reach me and we work it out together than sit alone with something urgent between sessions.
A sense of humor (some days, we have to laugh or we’ll need to cry), curiosity about other perspectives, and an openness to being challenged and in turn challenging me!
